Design Team Round Two

The Design Team round two has now ended, and we have selected those who are going into round three. Gee this was a really tough choice. When I received round one there were a few that I thought, yep they will definitly go through, then when round two came in, some people blew me away with how well they did there layouts, and personally I thought it wasn't the easiest of paper ranges to use. A very big thank you to all that entered. I know some of you must be disappointed but we are asking those that got into round two to be guest Design Team members for a month. When they are a guest we will send them products free of charge to play with, and also that month that they are a guest they will receive the challenge pack free. (also know as the torture pack LOL The Design Team members who went into round Three are;

Welcome to round 3, the third and final round: Meet

Leanne;
Hi! I’m Leanne and I am from the beautiful Hunter Valley, NSW. I am 41 years old, mum (shared care) to Riley, 6 and partner to Steve. I have a great career as a full time secondary Technology teacher, specialising in Food Technology/Hospitality at my local school. I have always been involved in creating and still enjoy embroidery, patchwork and mohair teddy bears, however, one home can only contain so many of these objects!! Unlike all these past pursuits, scrapbooking preserves memories and documents our lives for future generations. My scrapping subjects are primarily Riley and Steve, my three nieces, extended family and some close friends and their children. I don’t often scrap about myself, but am making a conscious effort to change this situation. I would best describe my style as I would best describe my style as eclectic. Depending on the photo, the challenge and the products I would like to use, my style ranges from clean and simple to shabby and excessive. I love embellishments, but try not to be over the top, therefore ensuring the photo/s and journaling to tell the story. I love challenges as they make me work outside my comfort zone and also encourage/promote trying new techniques. I really enjoy learning new techniques and incorporating them into projects. Challenges and new techniques keep my work fresh. My favourite products at the moment include patterned paper, everything chipboard, especially alphabets, flowers, ribbons, paints, and inks, whilst my most often used techniques include: inking, sanding (pp and photos), stitching, (machine and hand), stamping, journaling.
Tracey;
My name is Tracey and I am 44 years old. I live in North Nowra NSW, with the best husband in the world and my four beautiful children- 3 gorgeous daughters and a handsome son !!!! I work full-time as a retail Fashion Manager for a national brand, and yes still manage to sneek in some scrapping hours on a weekly, anytime of the day,
time, that is ME time !!!

I have been scrapbooking now for 10 years, and it really is my most FAVOURITE and LOVED hobby/obsession !!! I am very fortunate to have “my” own room that is filled to the brim with lot’s of bit’s and pieces that I can’t resist - well what scrapper can ??!!

My style could be described as varied, I don’t tend to stick to any one particular thing, however at the moment I am loving stitching, ribbon and flowers, and my absolute favourite would be rub on’s. I also cannot resist paper, if I like it I have to have it, but I always buy more than one piece and have to add co-ordinating pages too, one doesn’t wan’t to get caught out!!

The most important thing to me with scrapbooking, is the story that it is telling my children, and how it allows me to truly express my feelings for them !!

Looking back over the last 10 years, I wish I had discovered this fantastic art many years earlier!

Vicki;
My name is Vicki Sturgiss, and I am a 32 yo single mother of one gorgeous 6 yo girl. I try to be a hands-on mum at my daughters school and volunteer for whenever I can, and in my spare time....I love to take photos and scrap!!

I was first introduced to scrapbooking about 8 years ago, but at the time I was busy with other things. Then when my daughter was about 2 years old a friend invited me to a Creative Memories demonstration and I caught the bug. The very first layout I created was the story of the loss of my first pregnancy, and I found it so therapeutic. Now its four years later and I have converted a lot of my friends and family to the craft as well.

I love scrapbooking for a number of reasons, it gives me a creative outlet, it tells our story (wherever that be happy or sad), and I also find it something that my daughter and I can both enjoy together, (she has already finished an album!!)

I like to experiment with a lot of different styles, however I really love more rustic, layouts. I love using reds, and autumn type colours. I also love the bling stuff...I have a girl so anything that glitters is gold to us!! By nature I am not really a planner, so that is also how I scrap....my pages just sort of take shape as I go, if I try to plan them the never end up looking the way that I thought anyway!!

Rebecca;
Hi, my name is Rebecca Wild and I am a mother of one, Mitchell who has just turned four. My wonderful husband is very supportive of everything I do.

I am a Family Day Care Provider four days a week and provide care for up to 6 children at any given time. I love my job as it keeps me busy and Mitchell loves having all the children to come and play. Brendan and I would love to have more children of our own, but we have been diagnosed with secondary infertility. This was quite heartbreaking news for us as we always wanted a large family.

I have been scrapping for over a year now, ever since I moved back to Brisbane. My mum got me addicted. I never realised how popular scrapbooking was until I got into it. I would consider myself to be a freestyle scrapper. My favourite scrapbooking items are flowers, ribbon, buttons, doodling, chipboard letters and having the right photo.

I am not currently on any design teams but would one day love to be chosen for one. I believe that I could bring a creative and modern style to the design team. I always give my layouts 100% and try to incorporate new ideas into each one. I have really enjoyed the challenges that have been set before us by Mel at Lets Scrap. The materials we had to work with are not what I would normally use but I am glad I gave it a go as it made me think outside the square.

Rebecca also took out our 'Scrapper of the Month' title so Congratulations to you Rebecca.

Swaps

We have introduced Swaps into the Forum, we just received the first of our swaps. This is our tag swap. They were great and everyone did such a great job. We are in the middle of doing the Christmas Cards swap, quite appropriate I thought due to Christmas is coming up so quickly. Before we know it another year will be at an end.
I have already received one lot of cards, and I have finished my cards as well. My Christmas cards aren't the usual traditional card, so I hope you all like them. I am really enjoying doing the swaps. It makes you want to do a really nice card so that the others like it. I have a few ideas for the next round of swaps. It is a bit different, but hey loads of fun I think. Thank you to all of you that have participated in the swaps. It's loads of fun for me and I hope you are all enjoying it to.

Busy Busy Busy

The last few weeks has been extremely busy at Let's Scrap, we have bought on Bella as a supplier, and I am just loving there prices. It is nice to be able to forward on excellent prices to my customers. Bella has been selling like Hot cakes and so this week we received our second shipment, this shipment contained heaps of Bling, look out for it, it should be on the web the beginning of next week.
We also are introducing Send & Makes, These are going to be lots of fun and we are hoping to do change them once a month. These Send & Makes consist of a little project that you receive free of charge with any order, ordered over the internet. We will send you all the products required for the 'Send & Make' and the instruction sheet for you to do the project. This is loads of fun and we hope you will all enjoy this.
We have also introduced our Swap. I am so excited about this, Our first swap is a 'Tag' Swap. This is where if you want to be involved you can put your name down and however many people want to be involved makes up that certain number of Tags. We are making Tags this month. I have been so excited about this that I have already made mine up. Then everyone sends there tags to me and I divide them up so that everyone that participates get one of each tag and then I will send them out. How much fun, We will eventually do a challenge that you must use one of the tags in the swap on a layout. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Not only that I receive lots of different tags for future projects. How cool is that.
I am also looking forward to the end of the month to see Second Round Design Team layouts that will be coming in. The pack must have been a little scarey for some, because I have not yet received any layouts back, Hopefully it made everyone think.
I also have been busy doing the challenges and the Let's Scrap challenge pack. They have been loads of fun. I never thought I would be addicted to that sort of thing, but I am caught hook line and sinker.
I would also like to thank a few of my customers who have been a huge support to me, Sam who is my best friend who has helped me from day one in my endevour to create Let's Scrap, gee what would I have done without you. Thanks for all your advice and for me to vent to. Also a few big thank you's to Leanne, Carrie and to Rebecca. You guys have been great customers and I thank you for your continue support. I appreciate it very much.

Design Team Round One

Well how exciting, we have selected 10 people who have entered into our Design Team challenge to go onto the next round. The team at Let's Scrap is so excited about this next round. The pack is so different and it will certainly challenge people. I can not wait untill I see everyones'layouts.

We have been busy the last week. We had our kids class which was packed. It was loads of fun and there books turned out great. We also had our calander class which we had some new people to the store do it, all the calanders turned out fantastic. It is interesting to see people put paper together, and how each one looked so different.

The new challenge pack has come out. This one I think is even more fun and challenging then the last. I am looking forward to more people participating. It is so much fun to see what people do with the same products. For those that enter, the design team choose one person to receive the next free, but we do need all challenges back by the end of the month. We will be doing this monthly. This months winner of the pack is Sam. She will now receive this months pack free.
